The station Meerbusch-Osterath is the only station in Meerbusch . It is located in the Osterath district and is on the Left Lower Rhine railway line and on the Osterath – Dortmund Süd railway line .
history
Meerbusch-Osterath station was opened on January 26, 1856 on the left-hand Lower Rhine railway line as Osterath station. Since 1866 it was also the starting point of the Osterath – Dortmund Süd railway line . In 1980 it was renamed Meerbusch-Osterath when the city of Meerbusch was founded .
On December 5, 2017, the Meerbusch-Osterath railway accident occurred here .
Location and structure
The station is on the eastern edge of Osterath on the Meerbusch – Willich road . The reception building is now used as a restaurant . The railway line and the road have previously crossed in a level crossing.

Rail transport
Osterath station is served by two Regional Express lines. The RE 7 connects it with Krefeld , Neuss and Cologne , the RE 10 with Kleve , Krefeld and Düsseldorf .

Bus transport
For bus transport, the train station can be reached via the bus stops Osterath Bf and Osterath, Bahnhofsweg . These two stops are served by three bus lines, SB52, 071 and 832. Line 071 is of regional importance and connects the train station with Viersen and Willich to the west, and to the east with the Meerbusch Haus Meer tram stop , which connects to the Düsseldorf tram consists. Line 832 is of inner-city importance and connects the station with Meerbusch- Strümp and Meerbusch- Lank-Latum . The SB52 runs from the train station in the same direction as line 832 and also provides a fast connection to Düsseldorf-Stockum .

The city of Meerbusch is planning to convert the area around the station. As part of this, the level crossing is to be replaced by an underpass with a roundabout, and a bus station with park-and-ride facilities and a kiss-and-ride zone will be built at the train station . Construction of the station underpass began in 2019.
