The Emsdetten Station is a transit stop at the opened on June 23, 1856 Münster-Rheine railway in Emsdetten . It is served by DB Regio NRW and the Westfalenbahn .

The two-storey reception building near the city center was built between 1853 and 1855 as a brick building with an unplastered facade typical of the region. After several renovations and extensions, the external appearance changed fundamentally in 1976 when the brick facade was plastered and simplified. After many years of neglect, the station underwent a structural upgrade in October 2003 when the bus station on the forecourt was redesigned and covered. From 2005 to December 2006 the station building was gutted, refurbished and supplemented with glazed extensions at a cost of 11.6 million euros for the entire project (Architects: Recker, Emsdetten). At the same time, a two-storey bicycle storage building for around 1000 bicycles was built. Subsequently, the same rail access to the former central platform was abolished and replaced by a pedestrian underpass. Until then, platform access had been blocked by a pedestrian barrier when trains were passing through.

Of the original four tracks in the station area, only the two through tracks are left. The shunting tracks and loading areas to the east were replaced by a Park + Ride car park in 2010.
