Murder case

Since May 13, 2013, Visser and her partner Lodewijk Severein went missing. Most recently, both of them were on vacation in Murcia, Spain . The bodies of Visser and Severein were found half-buried two weeks later in Alquerías in a lemon grove not far from the regional capital Murcia. The police found traces of blood and evidence of the use of violence in an apartment in Molina de Segura . It was announced a day later that the bodies had been dismembered. On May 28, 2013, Juan Cuenca Lorente , the volleyball manager and sports director of her former club CAV Murcia 2005 , was interrogated and arrested as a possible mastermind in the murder case. In addition, two Romanians were arrested in Valencia as possible contract killers . On May 29, 2013, an arrest warrant was issued for Cuenca. On May 31, forensic medicine confirmed the identity of the dead and stated that the cause of death was blunt violence on the head. In mid-July 2013 a fourth person, the owner of the lemon plantation, was arrested. At the trial, one of the suspects pointed out that the couple had been killed on May 14, 2013. The perpetrators were initially sentenced to 40 years and two days in prison. In the second appeal, the sentences for the murderers, the Spaniard Juan Cuenca Lorente and the Romanian Valentin Ion, were reduced to 34 years because the lawsuit had been going on for so long.
