Leningradka Saint Petersburg ( Russian "Ленингра́дка" ) is a Russian women's volleyball club from Saint Petersburg , which was founded in 1935 as DSO Spartak Leningrad and takes part in the highest division of volleyball in Russia, the Superleague .

history

The club was founded in 1935 as DSO Spartak Leningrad . From 1939 he took part in the national championship. Second place in the championship in 1948 marked the club’s first major success, and vice-championship titles followed in 1950, 1961 and 1980. The greatest successes in the club’s history were the USSR Cup victories in 1976 and 1977 and reaching the final of the Challenge Cup in 2008 / 09 .

In 1977 the name was changed to TTU Leningrad ( Tram and Trolleybus Administration ) before the club was renamed TTU Saint Petersburg as part of the renaming of Leningrad . In the Soviet championship Leningradka completed a total of 43 seasons. In the 1980/81 season TTU took second place in the European Cup Winners' Cup .

The club has been taking part in the Russian women's championship since 1992. The best result in the Russian championship are fifth places in 1993 and 2008. Since 2003 the club has been playing under the name Leningradka Saint Petersburg under the umbrella of SK Kapitan Saint Petersburg . In 2003 the women's team was relegated to the second division, but in 2006 managed to return to the Superleague with the championship title in the Wysschaja Liga .

Many of the club's players took part in international competitions with the Soviet and Russian national volleyball teams, including the Olympic Games, World and European Championships. The most famous players include:
