Franz Schütz (politician, 1900)

Franz Schütz (born May 25, 1900 in Büderich ; † April 18, 1970 ) was a German politician and member of the state parliament ( CDU ) in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life and work

After attending elementary school and the preparatory institute , he took part in a teachers' seminar. Schütz then completed an engineering training and worked as the head of the welding test institute at RWTH Aachen University , operations manager and works director of Böhler AG in his birthplace Büderich (today a district of Meerbusch , on the border with Düsseldorf-Lörick ).

In 1945 he became a founding member of the Büderich CDU. From 1954 to 1963 he was district chairman of the CDU in the Grevenbroich district . from 1969 to 1970 he was President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Neuss

From April 20, 1947 until his death, Schütz was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was directly elected in the constituency 029 Grevenbroich-Ost. From 1954 he was a member of the council of the municipality of Büderich, from October 1964 Schütz was mayor . He was a member of the Grevenbroich district council from 1948 to 1952.

In addition to his work for Böhler AG and as a politician, Schütz was also the protector of the St. Sebastian Schützenbruderschaft , board member of the Association of German Ironworkers , today's steel institute VDEh , and the friends and supporters of the State Art Academy in Düsseldorf .

Honors

  • Schütz received an honorary doctorate from RWTH Aachen University while he was still alive .
  • Schütz is the only honorary citizen of the city of Meerbusch.
  • The central fairground in Büderich is now called Dr.-Franz-Schütz-Platz .
