The University of Central Florida (UCF) is a state university in Orlando in the US state of Florida . With 69,525 students (2009: 53,537) it is the largest university in Florida and the second largest university in the USA. 59,483 students are about to complete their first degree ( undergraduate ), 9,553 are studying afterwards ( graduate ). 31,188 students are male and 38,331 female.

history

Florida Technological University was founded in 1963 and started operations in October 1968 with 1,948 students. In 1978 it received its current name.

Sports

The sports teams are called the Knights . The university has been a member of the American Athletic Conference since 2013 .
