Blake Bortles (born on 28. April 1992 in Altamonte Springs , Florida is) a US American football poker players at the position of quarterback . He was selected third in the 2014 NFL Draft and previously played college football at the University of Central Florida (UCF). He played for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the National Football League from 2014 to 2018 and was then under contract with the Los Angeles Rams . He is currently a free agent .

High school and college

Bortles attended Oviedo High School and played football and baseball there . As a senior, he passed for 2,211 yards and 27 touchdowns on seven interceptions .

Bortles decided on the offer from the University of Central Florida and initially suspended the 2010 season. In the next three years he came in 37 games to 7,598 yards, 56 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. His record as a starting quarterback was 22-5.

On January 5, 2014, Bortles announced that he was giving up his senior college season to participate in the 2014 NFL Draft .

NFL

In the 2014 NFL Draft, Bortles was selected third and first quarterback by the Jacksonville Jaguars . On June 18, he signed his rookie contract for four years and 20.6 million US dollars .

On September 21, 2014, he was substituted on for Chad Henne in the defeat by the Indianapolis Colts and after the game he was declared starting quarterback by head coach Gus Bradley . He started in the other 13 games and came to the end of his rookie season on 2,908 yards of space, 11 touchdowns and 17 interceptions.

In 2015, Bortles made his breakthrough when he set franchise records for yards in passing (4,428), touchdown passes (35), completed passes (355), and pass attempts (606). He also managed at least one touchdown pass in the first 15 games of the season, which is also a Jaguars record. Only Tom Brady threw more touchdown passes this season (36).

In February 2018, Bortle's contract was extended for three years in which he would earn $ 54 million. After the twelfth game day, however, Bortles was demoted from the starter to the backup after poor performance. On the final day of the 2018 season , however, he got his starter job back. He was fired by the Jaguars on March 13, 2019 after they announced the signing of Nick Foles .

On March 18, 2019, Bortles signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams , where he served as a backup for Jared Goff .
