In the Canadian Football League (CFL), the space gained after interceptions is measured from the point of interception to the point at which the play ended. If the interception is caught in the own end zone and not carried out of it, the distance covered in the end zone is still scored. An intercepteter lateral pass is not counted as an interception, but as a conquered fumble . In the National Football League (NFL), interceptions and return yards are not recorded during a two-point conversion.

Thrown interceptions will always be credited to the thrower, even if it is not his fault.
