Paul James Krause (* 19th February 1942 in Flint , Michigan ) is a former American American football player .

origin

Krause was born in the automobile town of Flint and grew up in poor conditions in Burton , Michigan. His parents were very religious, which was also noticeable in Krause's upbringing. In the von Krause family of German descent, worship always had priority over sport, even though sport was seen as the key to a better life. In high school he played basketball and baseball in addition to American football . In particular, his achievements in basketball (he scored 54 points in one game) earned him a scholarship to the University of Iowa .

Player career

College career

Krause played in the College for the Iowa Hawkeyes , the American football team of his college. It was used both as a safety and as a wide receiver . In a single game he was able to convert six pass catches to touchdowns in 1963, which earned him the nomination for several selection games.

The Vikings managed to move into the Super Bowl four times under their quarterback Fran Tarkenton . You couldn't win any of these games. Super Bowl IV was lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 23: 7 , although Krause had managed to intercept a pass from Len Dawson and he was also able to secure a fumble . There were also defeats in Super Bowl IX with 16: 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers and in Super Bowl XI with 32:14 against the Oakland Raiders .

Krause managed to intercept 81 passes in his career, thus holding the all-time record in front of Emlen Tunnell . He was able to run three interceptions to touchdowns in the opposing end zone. He also secured 19 fumbles, which he could also use to three touchdowns. During his 16-year professional career, he only missed two games due to injury.
