- 1860 : The Canadian-British Allan Line's Hungarian passenger steamer is thrown against the cliffs in a snow storm off Sable Island on the coast of Nova Scotia and sits aground. Due to the storm, no rescuers can get to the ship. All 205 passengers and crew members die.
- 1985 : When landing at Bilbao ending Iberia - Flight 610 in a disaster . The aircraft loses the left wing after colliding with an antenna system on Mount Oiz . The following crash kills all 148 inmates.
