Waldemar Bloch
Waldemar Bloch (born May 5, 1906 in Vienna , † February 19, 1984 in Graz ) was an Austrian composer , pianist and music teacher.
Soon he moved from Vienna to Graz, he already spent his school and study days in Styria. He studied composition with Roderich Mojsisovics von Mojsvár, among others . Initially as a pianist on concert tours, he has been a teacher at the Styrian State Conservatory since 1945, and subsequently since 1956 as a professor of music theory at the Music Academy, and from 1963 the Music Academy in Graz. He has been honored several times, including the 1957 State Prize for Music .
His best-known students are Franz Koringer , Karl Haidmayer , Viktor Fortin , Johann Täubl, Peter Vujica and Hermann Markus Preßl .
Waldemar Bloch's compositional work includes theater music, many vocal compositions, including several masses and numerous choirs as well as the scenic cantata Orpheus (1955); also instrumental works, piano, chamber music and numerous organ works as well as compositions for the accordion . In addition, he wrote music theory writings.
