Franz Koringer

Franz Koringer (born June 19, 1921 in Towarischewo near Bačka Palanka ( German  Plankenburg ), Kingdom of Yugoslavia ; † December 21, 2000 in Leibnitz ) was a Styrian composer who composed many works for symphonic orchestras and in recent years many new Styrian ones Folk songs and masses became famous.

Life

Franz Koringer was born in Towarischewo in what is now Serbia. The place belonged to the Austro-Hungarian monarchy until the end of the First World War . The changing affiliations in the following decades to Hungary , Serbia or Croatia were very decisive for his later musical work. In 1942 he came to Styria for musical training , was accepted into the conservatory and the Graz University of Music ( violin , piano and composition ) and graduated in 1949.

Franz Koringer began as a music school teacher in Arnfels in southern Styria, then came to the Leibnitz Music School and ran the Franz Koringer Music School, later named after him, from 1955 until his retirement in 1981.
