Kevin Arnould (born February 19, 1980 in Sallanches ) is a former French skier who was active in Nordic Combined and its individual disciplines, ski jumping and cross-country skiing .

Career

Nordic combination

Arnould made his international debut at the 1999 Junior World Championship in Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer . There he won bronze with the team in the team competition. A year later at the Junior World Championships in 2000 in Štrbské Pleso , he also won bronze in the Gundersen individual over 10 km. On February 26, 2000 Arnould made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup . As 32nd in Chaux-Neuve, he just barely missed his first World Cup points . In March he started in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc in the B-World Cup and won the competition in the Gundersen individual on the normal hill.

In September 2000 he started for a competition in the Summer Grand Prix and won a point straight away as 30th in Stams . At the beginning of the 2000/01 World Cup season , he was 23rd in the second competition in Kuopio to score his first World Cup points. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2001 in Lahti , Arnould landed in individual 21st. Together with the team, he reached ninth place and was 29th in the sprint at the end of the season 41st place overall in the World Cup.

Also in the 2001/02 season Arnould started successfully with point wins in Kuopio and Lillehammer . In Steamboat Springs he reached the top 20 for the first time as 12th. He also achieved this place twice in Val di Fiemme . Surprisingly, he was able to finish ninth in the top ten for the first time in Ramsau am Dachstein .

At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , Arnould reached 34th place in the sprint and 17th place in the individual. In the team competition, he finished sixth together with Ludovic Roux , Frédéric Baud and Nicolas Bal . Also in the World Cup races after the Games, Arnould again won points and finished the season in 23rd place in the overall World Cup standings.

In the 2002/03 season Arnould started again with good results after successes at the Summer Grand Prix. In January he switched again to the B World Cup in preparation for the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2003 , where he performed very well , including a win in Klingenthal . At the World Championships in Val di Fiemme, Italy, he was ninth in the sprint and reached seventh place with the team in the team competition. At the end of the season he surprised with fifth place in the sprint in Oslo , which was also the best World Cup result of his career. In the end, he finished the most successful season of his career in 21st place overall.

At the 2003 Summer Grand Prix in Steinbach Hallenberg, Arnould was second on the podium for the first time. However, it remained the only career podium in this series. In the 2003/04 season , Arnould failed to build on his successes from the previous year. Although he often landed in the points, there were no major successes or top 10 placements except for seventh place in Kuusamo at the beginning of the season. In the end, he finished 33rd overall. Another drop in performance Arnould recorded in the 2004/05 season . Again there were no top positions and in the end he only finished 35th in the overall World Cup ranking.

At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf in 2005 , after an 18th place in the Gundersen individual with the team, which also included Nicolas Bal, Jason Lamy Chappuis and Ludovic Roux, he ended up seventh in the team competition.

In the 2005/06 season , Arnould was often without points. His best result was a 24th place in Ramsau am Dachstein and Oslo. Therefore, he moved back to the B World Cup in January, where he started until the end of the season. After he could not achieve any podium places there either, he ended his active career after the season.

Ski jumping

Arnould made his first appearance with the special jumpers on March 2, 2002 at the Ski Jumping World Cup in Lahti , where he supported the team in the team competition. In the end he reached eighth and last place together with Emmanuel Chedal , Rémi Santiago and Nicolas Dessum . On February 4, 2006 he started again in Courchevel in the FIS Cup . He won 32 points in eighth place and was thus in 134th place in the overall standings.

Cross-country skiing

In cross-country skiing, Arnould competed in two FIS races in March 2005 and March 2006 . He reached 28th place in Ulrichen over 10 km freestyle in 2005 and 39th in the same discipline in Méribel in 2006 .
