The Nordic Combined World Cup 2002/03 season began on November 29, 2002 in Kuusamo, Finland and ended on March 15, 2003 in Lahti , also Finland . During the season from February 18 to March 1, 2003, the Nordic World Ski Championships were held in Val di Fiemme . A new FIS point system came into effect with the season , according to which the winner of a World Cup only receives 100 points.
With his four World Cup victories, Ronny Ackermann was able to repeat the overall World Cup victory from the previous year and relegated Felix Gottwald to second place again with four World Cup victories. Björn Kircheisen was third overall . In the Sprint World Cup, the sequence was ultimately the same as in the overall World Cup.
For Björn Kircheisen, the victory in Trondheim, Norway was the first World Cup success in his career. In addition, he was able to win the individual race and the sprint on the following two days, making him the first combined athlete to do so. Behind Kircheisen, the American Johnny Spillane achieved the first podium places of his career with a second and two third places.
