The Nordic Combined World Cup season 2004/05 began on November 27, 2004 in Kuusamo, Finland and ended on March 13, 2005 in Oslo . During the season, the Nordic World Ski Championships were held in Oberstdorf from February 16 to 27, 2005 . Originally 18 individual and two team competitions were planned, but a relay competition was converted into a sprint at short notice. In addition, two competitions had to be canceled.
At the beginning, the World Cup season was marked by the duel between Hannu Manninen and Ronny Ackermann . With a winning streak of six World Cup victories, the Finn was finally able to shake off his closest rival and was also in the lead in the end. With his ten World Cup victories in one season, he set a new record. However, Ackermann found his form again in time for the world championship and became double world champion in front of his home crowd.
In addition to the two outstanding athletes of the season, the Austrian Felix Gottwald , the German Björn Kircheisen and the Norwegian Magnus Moan each enjoyed a World Cup success. The sprint world cup was also won by Manninen ahead of Ackermann. The American Todd Lodwick was able to convince as third in this ranking . Finland won the only team competition . The national ranking was won by Germany.
A Grand Prix was also integrated into the World Cup season, the overall ranking of which was also won by Hannu Manninen. The evaluation was made up of the World Cup points won at the competitions in Oberhof , Ruhpolding and Schonach .
