Håvard Klemetsen (born January 5, 1979 in Kautokeino ) is a former Norwegian Nordic combined skier .

Career

Håvard Klemetsen, who started for Kautokeino IL , has been practicing Nordic skiing since 1986. He made his international debut in December 2001 in the B World Cup . On January 1, 2003, he made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup in a sprint race in Oberstdorf , which he finished 33rd . Only a few days later he won his first World Cup points in 23rd place in Chaux-Neuve . Despite this success, he remained part of the B squad in the B World Cup. From the 2003/04 season he was finally part of the A-team and started exclusively in the World Cup.

Already at the second competition Klemetsen found himself in the top 20 in almost all World Cups. In February 2004 he was also used for the first time in a team world cup and reached fifth place with the team in Oberstdorf. In January 2005 Klemetsen achieved a top 10 result for the first time in Schonach in the Black Forest with seventh place in the Gundersen singles. He also landed in the top ten in Seefeld in Tirol and Liberec and then started at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf in 2005 . After he landed on a mixed 20th place in the individual, he won the world championship title in the team competition together with Petter Tande , Magnus Moan and Kristian Hammer .

At the Norwegian Championships in Lillehammer 2005 , Klemetsen won gold in the individual and bronze in the sprint. As a result, he found it difficult to establish himself firmly among the world's best at the World Cups. It is true that scoring points was normal, but there were no podium places or even victories. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , Klemetsen did not get past 20th place in the individual and 40th place in the sprint.

At the 2006 Summer Grand Prix he won his first A-class competition at the team competition in Berchtesgaden . For the 2006/07 season he achieved fourth place in the mass start race in Lago di Tesero, just one place behind the podium and his best result to date. Just one day later, he and the team stood on the podium for the first time in a winter competition. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo in 2007 , he missed the team's defense of the world championship title and only won bronze in the team competition. He finished 19th in the sprint and 16th in the individual. A short time later he won silver in the mass start at the 2007 Norwegian Championships in Molde .

Due to mixed results in a row in the World Cup, Klemetsen came back in December 2007 for two races in Høydalsmo in the B World Cup squad. After two good results, including third place in the sprint, he came back to the World Cup in January 2008. In Klingenthal on January 20, he was fourth and again just barely missed his first podium.

In January 2009 Klemetsen started the two Continental Cup races in Wisła and won them clearly. Just five days later in Lahti , he was seventh again and was among the top ten. However, it remained the only top 10 place in the following months. In January 2010, Klemetsen managed to win another Continental Cup in Otepää . In March he was twice successful in Høydalsmo.

With the 2010/11 season , Klemetsen succeeded for the first time in being among the world's best for the entire season. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 2011 he won the bronze medal with the team in the team competitions on the large hill and the normal hill. He narrowly missed an individual medal as fourth in the individual on the large hill. After he also finished his last two World Cups of the season in the top ten, he finished 14th in the overall standings. He had previously won silver in the individual again at the Norwegian Championships in Oslo in 2011 .

For the World Cup season 2011/12 to Klementsen further increased. On December 3, 2011, he achieved his first individual World Cup victory in Lillehammer . Although he did not get any further podium ranks by the end of the season, he finished 10th in the overall World Cup ranking. In January 2013 Klemetsen achieved another team success by winning the team competition on the normal hill in Schonach.

At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme , he won the team competition on the normal hill together with Jørgen Graabak , Magnus Krog and Magnus Moan silver behind France and ahead of Austria. In the two individual competitions he came in fifth and ninth.

At the Norwegian Championships 2013 in Rena he won his second Norwegian Championship. In the penalty race he prevailed against Mikko Kokslien and Ole Martin Storlien . In the individual, he won the silver medal behind Magnus Krog .

At the 2013 Summer Grand Prix, Klemetsen achieved a summer individual victory in Villach for the first time .

He started the individual competitions of the 2016/17 World Cup season with rather mediocre results , but together with Mikko Kokslien , Espen Andersen and Jørgen Graabak he achieved an excellent second place in the 4 × 5 km team pursuit at the start of the season in Lillehammer against strong competition from Austria, Finland and Japan. On April 24th, Klemetsen announced his resignation.
