Storlien made his international debut in 2007 in the Nordic Combined B-World Cup. At the Junior World Championships 2007 in Tarvisio he won the bronze medal with the team. In the Gundersen singles he reached place 27. Storlien also managed to win the bronze medal with the team at the Junior World Championships 2008 in Zakopane , Poland . In the sprint he reached the 7th place. From February 2009 Storlin started in the Continental Cup. On March 14, 2009 he made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup at the end of the season in Vikersund . He managed to place in the points in both competitions. With the points gained, he ended the 2008/09 season in 61st place in the overall World Cup ranking. For the 2009/10 season, however, he was still a permanent member of the Continental Cup squad, as he has not won any points in the World Cup since Vikersund.
On January 25, 2014, Storlien narrowly missed the podium with the relay team as fourth in the World Cup together with Jan Schmid , Thomas Kjelbotn and Truls Sønstehagen Johansen . He ended his career in 2016.
