David Kreiner (born March 8, 1981 in Kitzbühel ) is a former Austrian Nordic combined athlete .

Career

The Tyrolean , who was born in Kitzbühel, began his career in international junior competitions. At the Junior World Championships in Calgary in 1997 , he won the bronze medal with the Austrian team. A year later at the title fights in St. Moritz , he then won bronze in the individual competition. In 2000 in Štrbské Pleso , he then combined the successes of previous years and took third place both in the individual and with the team. At his fourth Junior World Championships in Karpacz in 2001 , he was finally able to win the gold medal in the sprint and defend third place in the Gundersen competition. He was seventh with the Austrian team.

Kreiner achieved his first podium in the senior category in 2001 in Liberec . He was second behind the German Ronny Ackermann . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 2001 , he won the silver medal in the relay. The team only had to admit defeat to the Norwegians. In 2005, the Austrian relay also won the bronze medal at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in Oberstdorf . In 2010 he was able to win the gold medal in the team competition at the Olympic Games in Vancouver thanks to a fantastic mileage. On January 22nd, 2011, Kreiner won the World Cup competition in Chaux-Neuve in the finish sprint and won his first World Cup race.

At the beginning of the 2011/12 season , Kreiner contested a few more races in Austria before retiring from the national team.

Kreiner lives in Kitzbühel .
