From this a lasting partnership developed, since 1998 Pohl worked regularly with Dirk Thiele to comment on special jumping and the Nordic combined. As early as 1994, he began studying at the trainer academy in Cologne, parallel to his commentary work. After passing the exam in 1995, he continued his training, this time as an insurance specialist, his current job. After his part-time work as an ARD expert in the years 2003-2010, he came back to Eurosport and commented there with Roman Knoblauch and Marc Rohde on the broadcasts of Nordic combined and women's ski jumping.
