Reiichi Mikata (born January 14, 1967 in Ashiro , Iwate Prefecture ) is a former Japanese Nordic combined athlete . He took part in the 1992 Winter Olympics for Japan .

Career

Mikata took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1991 for Japan and started in the team competition. Together with Masashi Abe and Kazuoko Kodama , he secured the bronze medal behind Austria and France.

On December 14, 1991 Mikata debuted in the Nordic Combined World Cup at the World Cup in Štrbské Pleso . In his first outing, he finished sixth, which is his best result in the World Cup. He qualified for the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville and was nominated for the Games by the Nippon Olympic Iinkai . After he only finished 34th in the individual, he was together with Takanori Kōno and Kenji Ogiwara Olympic champion in the team competition before Norway and Austria. At the end of the season he finished 14th with a total of 21 points together with the Swiss Hippolyt Kempf .
