Gertrud Kauffmann , née Gertrud Gradmann , (born March 11, 1890 in Neuenstein (Hohenlohe) ; † October 7, 1965 in Göppingen ) was a German art historian and author.

Life

Gertrud Gradmann, daughter of the pastor and art historian Eugen Gradmann (1863–1927), attended the girls' grammar school in Stuttgart and graduated from the humanistic grammar school in Cannstatt . She then studied art history and classical archeology in Tübingen , Vienna, Munich and Berlin. In Tübingen it was in 1916 Konrad von Lange with a thesis on the sculptor core Michael doctorate and was the first female doctoral student in art history in Tübingen.

She was married to the teacher and writer Fritz Alexander Kauffmann (1891–1945) and had three children with him (Agathe, Thomas (1924–2012) and Andreas). Since 1933 she lived with her husband in Ebersbach an der Fils .

Gertrud Kauffmann published in 1937 under the pseudonym Gertrud Hörlin (after the great-grandfather Karl Hörlin (1803-1882), pastor in Sindringen and Walheim) the development novel Verena .
