Krog, who starts for the Høydalsmo Ski Club, made his international debut in the B-World Cup of Nordic Combined on February 5, 2005 in Karpacz, Poland . With 23rd place, Krog immediately won the first points. In Vuokatti , he achieved his first top 10 place in the sprint in March with seventh place. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2007 in Tarvisio he won the bronze medal with the team in the relay competition after finishing seventh in the individual. In the sprint he was 13th at the end of his two starts in his home town of Høydalsmo, he was 18th in the mass start and in the Gundersen singles. In the sprint he narrowly missed the podium in fifth. At the end of the season in Eisenerz , he achieved his first podium with third place. He repeated this place in Pragelato , before he also achieved his first victory there and was also at the top of the podium with the team.
Because of this success he made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup on December 6, 2008 in Trondheim . As 43rd and 47th, however, he clearly missed the points. He then moved back to the now renamed Nordic Combined Continental Cup in January , where he landed on the podium again at the end of the season in Høydalsmo. The following season, Krog started in March 2010 in Høydalsmo and achieved two second places. He then moved back to the World Cup and missed the points by just one place in Oslo as 31st.
At the beginning of the 2010/11 season he again missed the points in Lillehammer as 33rd by just a few places. He then started again in the Continental Cup in Klingenthal and was on the podium again in the second competition. After three wins in Szczyrk and Kranj and another return to the World Cup squad. On March 11, 2011 he achieved his first World Cup points as 18th. On the following day he was able to improve his performance in 13th place. At the Nordic Combined Grand Prix in summer 2011 he was successful from the start. After a third place in the competition in Liberec and further good placements, he came in sixth overall.
In the World Cup season 2011/12 started Krog with his first World Cup victory in the Gundersen individual on the large hill. In Ramsau am Dachstein he was also back on the podium in second place. He was also successful again in Seefeld in Tirol with two top 10 placements. In preparation for the World Cup in Oberstdorf, he broke his shoulder blade, after which he had to take a three-month break.

In February 2012 he celebrated his comeback in the World Cup and, as 30th in Liberec , immediately reached the points again. In Lahti and Oslo he was also among the top twenty for the first time. He started the 2012/13 season in ninth place in Lillehammer , before reaching the podium again shortly afterwards in Kuusamo with second place. At the team world cup over 2 × 7.5 km on the same hill, he finished tenth together with Jan Schmid . As a result, he was able to consolidate in the World Cup and again achieved a placement among the top ten in Sochi .
At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Val di Fiemme , after finishing tenth in the individual on the normal hill, he won the silver medal together with Jørgen Graabak , Håvard Klemetsen and Magnus Moan in the relay. He finished the world championships as 18th in the individual on the large hill. He finished the season after another eighth place in the Team World Cup in Lahti as 18th in the overall World Cup standings.
In the first six of the single start races of the 2016/17 World Cup season , which were still held in 2016 , he was able to place himself in the points with the exception of the first and reached 14th place on the first day of the competition in Ramsau am Dachstein.
