Gunter Schmieder

Gunter Schmieder (born July 27, 1957 ) is a former German Nordic combined athlete who competed for the German Democratic Republic . He took part in the 1984 Olympic Games in Sarajevo for the GDR . He competed for the SC Dynamo Klingenthal .

Career

In 1976 and 1977 he took part in the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships and was able to win the individual Nordic Combined competition. In 1978 he took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti and finished fifth in the individual competition as the fourth best GDR starter. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1982 , he again took fifth place in the individual competition. In addition, together with Uwe Dotzauer and Konrad Winkler , he won the gold medal in front of the teams from Finland and Norway in the team competition, which was held for the first time.

He took part in the first ever Nordic Combined World Cup in the 1983/84 season and came third at the first competition in Seefeld behind the two winners Uwe Dotzauer and Kerry Lynch . At the end of the season he finished 15th with a total of 34 points. He also took part in the 1984 Olympic Games in Sarajevo and the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1984 in Rovaniemi . At the Olympic Games he finished 15th in the individual competition and in the non-Olympic team competition in Nordic Combined, which was held in Rovaniemi, she missed a World Cup medal with fourth place.
