Ryan Vandenburg (born September 12, 1983 in Cambridge ) is a Canadian beach volleyball player .

Career

Vandenburg began his career at Ryerson University . There he played volleyball from 2002 to 2007 and became one of the most successful players in the history of the Ryerson Rams university team. In 2007 he started playing beach volleyball. At the 2011 NORCECA tournament in Boca Chica , he finished fifth with Andrew Hinchey . At the Québec Open, Vandenburg / Hinchey played on the FIVB World Tour for the first time , but, like in the following Åland and The Hague, did not get beyond the back positions. In 2013 they won the National Volleyball League (NVL) tournament in Mason and finished fifth in Hermosa Beach . In the NORCECA series, they finished sixth in San Diego and reached the final of the tournament in St. Lucia .

In 2014 Vandenburg / Hinchey finished fourth in the NORCECA tournament on Grand Cayman . At the Puerto Vallarta Open of the World Tour , Vandenburg competed with Garrett May , but retired early. He then played in the NVL series again with Hinchey and reached after a fifth place in Dallas two three places in Mason and Milwaukee . He was also third with Matt Zbyszewski in Hermosa Beach. In 2015 Vandenburg / Hinchey played four NVL tournaments together. They finished third in Panama City and Madeira Beach, fifth in Milwaukee, and seventh in Mason. Then Vandenburg reached the final of the NVL tournament in Seattle and fifth place in Port St. Lucie with Drew Mallin .

In 2016 Vandenburg formed a new duo with Aaron Nusbaum , who finished fourth on Grand Cayman and fifth in Punta Cana on the NORCECA tour . In the NVL series, Vandenburg played three tournaments with Mallin (ninth and second in Port St. Lucie, third in Virginia Beach ) and one with Hinchley (fifth in Columbus ). He also achieved fourth place with Sergiy Grabovskyy at the NORCECA tournament in St. Lucia. In 2017, Vandenburg / Nusbaum took seventh and fourth place at the continental tournaments in La Paz and Grand Cayman. At the NVL tournament in Long Beach , Vandenburg finished fifth with Mallin. Vandenburg / Nusbaum qualified for the World Championship in Vienna via the NORCECA elimination .
