Maxime Laheurte (born May 20, 1985 in Gérardmer ) is a former French Nordic combined skier .

Career

Nordic combination

Laheurte, who started for the AS Gerardmer Ski Nordique ski club , has been running Nordic Combined since 1992 . He has been active in France at national level since 2000. At the Junior World Championships in 2002 in Schonach in the Black Forest , he finished second with the French relay and 40th in the Gundersen competition. At the Junior World Championships in 2003 in Sollefteå he was third in the relay, in the sprint he finished 13th and in the Gundersen competition 18th. At the Junior World Championships in 2004 in Stryn , Norway , however, he could not win a medal. He finished 18th in the sprint and sixth in the French relay. He made his debut in the World Cup in January 2005 in Sapporo , when he was able to achieve his first World Cup points by finishing 20 in the mass start race and 25 in the Gundersen competition. At his last Junior World Championships in 2005 in Rovaniemi , Finland , he was able to win silver again with the French team. In the Gundersen competition he was 28th and seventh in the sprint. His first two years in the World Cup were years of training for the young athlete. In December 2006 he was able to advance to the top of the world when he finished in the top seven in four races in a row at the two World Cup stations in Lillehammer and Ramsau am Dachstein , and even came third twice.

At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , Laheurte was part of the French squad, but was not used. At the 2007 World Championships in Sapporo , Japan , he was sixth with the team, tenth in the sprint and 19th in the Gundersen competition.

At the French Ski Jumping Championships 2009 in Chaux-Neuve Laheurte jumped to 16th place in individual and 4th place in team jumping. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , Canada , he missed Olympic precious metal with the French relay as fourth, just 1.4 points behind the German team, while he was 38th in the Gundersen competition.

While the French team from the large hill at the World Championships in 2009 when he was 35th in the Gundersen competition, and in 2011 when he was also fifth with the team from the normal hill and 16th (normal hill) and 21st (large hill) in the Gundersen competitions, Only fourth, Laheurte, François Braud , Sébastien Lacroix and Jason Lamy Chappuis won gold on the normal hill in 2013 . In the Gundersen competitions he was 15th (normal hill) and 25th (large hill).

At the 2014 Winter Olympics , he and the team again finished fourth and finished 17th (on the normal hill) and 27th (on the large hill) in the two Gundersen competitions.

The 2014/15 season was initially moderately successful for Laheurte, as he did not reach the top 10 for a long time. Laheurte had a season highlight at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 in Falun , when he - again with François Braud, Sébastien Lacroix and Jason Lamy Chappuis - took third place in the team competition and thus won a bronze medal. This is his second medal at world championships after 2013. In the Grundersen competitions he was 14th on the large hill and 16th on the normal hill. After only two top 10 placings in the entire season, he ended up in the overall World Cup 24. At the 2015 World Championships in Lahti , Finland , he was fifth in the team sprint and seventh with the team. In the Gundersen competition on the normal hill, he finished 27th.

At the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang , South Korea , he was fifth in the relay and eleventh (from the normal hill) and 14th (from the large hill) in the two Gundersen competitions. At the 2019 World Championships he was sixth in the team sprint and with the team and reached the 24th (large hill) and 30th place (normal hill) in the Gundersen competitions. Laheurte ended his career at the end of the 2018/19 season.

Other disciplines

Leheurte also started less often in competitions in ski jumping and cross-country skiing . So far he has participated in three competitions in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup , in which he clearly missed the points. He also occasionally took part in FIS cross-country races.
