Johnny Standley
Johnny Standley (born December 6, 1912 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin , † May 27, 1992 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American comedian .
As a young man, Johnny Standley toured the United States with his parents as The Standley Players . During World War II he served in the US Army and appeared as a comedian in programs for the United Service Organizations . After the war, he toured with Horace Heidt's big band and also appeared on their TV talent show. His comedy appearance It's in the Book was released as a single on Capitol Records in 1952 and reached number 1 on the US charts with over one million copies sold . In later times he remained active as a comedian with appearances mostly in California.
