Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2000

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 33rd Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2000 took place from January 25th to 30th in Štrbské Pleso , Slovakia . For the first time after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, Slovakia was the host of this most important junior competition in Nordic skiing. As early as 1990, Štrbské Pleso, at that time still part of Czechoslovakia, organized the Junior World Championships together with the French Les Saisis .

The most successful nation in the competitions was Russia with four gold, five silver and two bronze medals, with the Eastern Europeans winning all of their eleven medals in the cross-country skiing competitions. With three gold medals each, Germany (two silver and two bronze medals) and Finland (one silver and two bronze medals) took second and third place in the medal table.

Competition venues

The ski jumping competitions and the Nordic Combined jumping were held on the MS 1970 B, which was built for the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1970 . The cross-country skiing competitions of the combiners and the specialists took place on the trails in the area.
