Career
Seraina Mischol, who started for the Davos Ski Club, began her international career in FIS and Continental Cup races in December 1998. In 1999 she took part in the Junior World Championships for the first time in Saalfelden and was 37th over 5 kilometers. In 2001 she won the Swiss championship title in the 10-kilometer race in Langis and was second over 15 kilometers behind Natascia Leonardi Cortesi . At the subsequent Junior World Championships in Karpacz and Szklarska she won bronze over 15 kilometers, was fifth over five kilometers and 13th in the sprint. Since 2001, Mischol's appearances in the World Cup have become increasingly frequent. That year it was used for the first time in Lahti at a Nordic World Ski Championships . In 2004 she achieved tenth place in the Davos team sprint with Laurence Rochat . In December of that year, a fourth place followed in the team sprint in Bern . At this time, Mischol was developing more and more into a sprinter. In Reit im Winkl she came ninth in the sprint for the first time in an individual World Cup among the best. At the subsequent Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf , apart from an eighth place with Rochat in the team sprint, she did not achieve any results worth mentioning.
In January 2006, a sixth place in Otepää was another success. Her career highlight so far was my participation in the 2006 Olympic Games . In Turin , Mischol competed in three races, the best result was a 15th place in the 10-kilometer race. Mischol got off to a particularly good start into the 2007/08 season . In Düsseldorf she achieved her best individual result with fifth place in the sprint, and seventh in the team sprint. In the further course of the season she came in the top ten six times. The 2007/08 Tour de Ski finished in 12th place. In Otepää she achieved her best individual placement in the World Cup with fifth place in the sprint. In March 2008 she became Swiss champion over 30 km in Feutersoey . She finished the season in 15th place in the overall World Cup and 12th in the Sprint World Cup. In the 2008/09 season she reached 11 World Cup appearances, seven times the points. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009 , she finished 37th in the sprint and 22nd place over 10 km classic. In March 2009 she won the Engadin Skimarathon . The following year she came second in this run. She ran her last FIS cross-country skiing race in Lienz at the beginning of 2011 . There she won the Dolomitenlauf . In November 2011, Mischol announced that she was diagnosed with clinically isolated syndrome (HIS), a precursor to multiple sclerosis (MS). She wanted to continue her career, but had to announce her retirement in February 2012.
Mischol won five races in the Continental Cup and came on the podium nine more times. In the World Cup, she achieved 20 top ten placements in 103 races.
