1955: Rosa Parks bus
  • 1955 : Civil rights activist Rosa Parks is arrested in Montgomery for refusing to let a white man sit on a bus. This event subsequently leads to the 382-day bus boycott of Montgomery and the desegregation in the USA .
  • 1959 : Twelve consultative states sign the Antarctic Treaty , which among other things "freezes" territorial claims in the Antarctic and prohibits military use of the continent. The "administration" is transferred to the two organizations SCAR and COMNAP .

  • 2006 : A premiere in French football since the end of World War II : the football match between Paris Saint-Germain and Toulouse FC , which was to be played on the 16th day of Ligue 1 , has been postponed for security reasons. The catch-up game will be played on January 17, 2007.
  • 2011 : The first world championship in roller derby begins in Toronto , which will take place until December 4th, 2011. The national teams of Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Germany, England, Finland, France, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, Scotland, Sweden and the USA take part.
