Georges Eggenberger

Georges Eggenberger (born September 22, 1928 in Wartau ; † December 1, 2010 in Bern , entitled to reside in Grabs and Zurich ) was a Swiss politician ( SP ).

After attending secondary school in Buchs SG , Eggenberger worked from 1946 to 1974 as a postal operator in Zurich. In 1954 he founded the Post Death Fund . From 1957 to 1970 he was President of the Zurich Post section of the PTT Union , from 1960 to 1970 a member of the Central Board and from 1970 to 1974 Central President. From 1974 to 1978 he was central secretary and from 1978 to 1993 general secretary of the PTT Union. From 1971 to 1994 he was a member of the executive board of the Federal Association of Personnel in Public Enterprises, from 1978 to 1980 as Vice-President and from 1980 to 1994 as President. From 1974 to 1989 he was a member of the board of the Swiss Federation of Trade Unions . in theFrom 1958 to 1976 he held a political office for the first time in the Zurich municipal council . In the 1974/75 year of office he was the city council president of Zurich and thus the “highest” Zurich citizen. From 1981 to 1993 he was a member of the PTT's administrative board as a staff representative . From June 5, 1990 to December 3, 1995 he was a member of the National Council for the canton of Bern , where he was a member of the Commission for Social Security (later Commission for Social Security and Health).
