biography

Robinson grew up first in Sydney and moved with her family to Queenstown on the South Island of New Zealand to when she was four years old. She is currently attending Wakatipu High School there .

At the age of 15, Robinson competed in her first FIS race in Cardrona , where she was able to prevail against the international competition in her second run. In August 2017 she won her first two national championship titles in giant slalom and slalom and made her debut with a podium in the Australia New Zealand Cup (ANC). At the beginning of the northern winter, she started in the traditionally stronger Nor-Am Cup for the first time and won the giant slalom of Panorama on December 16, 2017 . On January 6, 2018, Robinson made her World Cup debut in the giant slalom in Kranjska Gora . After further starts at Plan de Corones and Lenzerheide , she took part in the Junior World Championship in Davos , but could not finish both technical races. For the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang she was given preference over her teammate Piera Hudson and, at the age of 16 years and two months, became the youngest winter Olympian in New Zealand's history. In giant slalom she finished 35th, in slalom she was eliminated.

In August and September 2018, Robinson celebrated her first three victories in the ANC and, in addition to the discipline classification in the Super-G, also secured the overall classification. With the FIS points she collected, she was number one in the giant slalom in the U18 age group worldwide in October 2018. In February 2019, she celebrated a European Cup victory for the first time in Berchtesgaden . A few days later she surprised at the World Championships in Åre , when she set the fastest time in the second round of the giant slalom and finished 17th. Only five days later, Robinson secured her first gold medal at the Junior World Championships in Val di Fassa , distancing the competition by over a second. This made her the first female junior world champion from New Zealand. After winning her first World Cup points in the giant slalom in Špindlerův Mlýn on March 8, 2019 , Robinson surprised nine days later in the giant slalom in Soldeu with second place behind Mikaela Shiffrin , which meant her first World Cup podium finish. In doing so, she secured New Zealand's first podium in the World Cup since Claudia Riegler in January 2002.

At the start of the 2019/20 World Cup , Robinson won the giant slalom in Sölden on October 26, 2019 . It was her first World Cup success and the first victory for a New Zealander since Claudia Riegler's successes in the 1996/97 season . In February she celebrated her second victory in Kranjska Gora .
