Alpine Ski Junior World Championship

The FIS Alpine Ski Junior World Championships are a sporting event in which the junior world champions in the alpine skiing disciplines downhill , super-G , giant slalom , slalom and combination are determined every year in different races . A team competition has also been held since 2012 . A super combination has been held since 2014, before the race points from downhill, giant slalom and slalom were added to determine the combination rating. The organizer is the World Ski Federation FIS . Eligible are 16 to 21 year old skiers (up to 2012: 15 to 20 year olds), including those who are already starting in the Ski World Cup . Junior World Championships were held for the first time in 1982, before that there were Junior European Championships from 1972 . According to the official language of the FIS, the sporting event is named in the plural and is called "FIS Alpine Junior Ski World Championships (year)".

Eligibility to start in the season finale: The respective junior world champions are authorized to start in the season finale of the World Cup (outside of other limitations).

The most successful participants in terms of the number of world championship titles are Marco Odermatt ( SUI ), Sabine Ginther ( AUT ) and Henrik Kristoffersen ( NOR ) with six gold medals each . Maria Riesch ( GER ) won the most medals with a total of nine .

So far, four athletes have won medals in all five disciplines. Kjetil André Aamodt ( NOR ), Tobias Hellman ( SWE ) and Mélanie Turgeon ( CAN ) each achieved this feat at a single World Championship. Maria Riesch needed three consecutive world championships for this.
