Egilbert von Minden , also Eilbert von Minden, († December 1, 1080 ) was bishop of the East Westphalian diocese of Mindens from 1055 .

He was initially Domscholast (head of the monastery school) in Bamberg .

As a teacher and friend of the Anno of Cologne , he might have become canons in St. Simon and Jude and perhaps also canon in Hildesheim through its influence .

The ducal house apparently aimed for the church bailiwick over the diocese of Minden, located in the middle of the Billungian sphere of influence . Emperor Heinrich III. In order to thwart the efforts of the Billunger, he relied on bishops who were absolutely loyal to the empire.

Nevertheless, the dukes managed to conclude an agreement with Bishop Egilbert in 1055/56, with which the Billungers were given the high bailiff over the diocese of Minden after 1073.

During the Saxon uprisings against Henry IV , he was on the side of the opposition party, which included the Billunger.

Egilbert took part in the court day at Worms , on which on January 24, 1076, the deposition of Pope Gregory VII was decided.
