Erich Aehnelt

Erich Aehnelt (born June 1, 1917 in Obersalzbrunn , Silesia , † December 1, 1974 in Hanover ) was a German veterinarian and university professor.

Life

Aehnelt received his doctorate in 1941 from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover on tuberculosis and tuberculinization in goats . In 1950 he completed his habilitation there on The Stallion's Sperm, taking into account the environment and heredity . From 1951 he worked as a lecturer at the TiHo. There he was appointed extraordinary professor in 1955 and full professor in 1956 as well as director of the Clinic for Obstetrics and Gynecology of Cattle and remained head of the clinic until 1974.

Awards

Aehnelt was an honorary member of the Veterinary Society of the Province of Mantua.

The Erich Aehnelt Memorial Prize , endowed with 2,000 euros and donated by the Ludwig Bertram GmbH company in Hanover-Laatzen, has been awarded at the TiHo for special dissertations since 1977 .
