Henriette Emilie Julia Elisabeth Edle von Poschinger , née Steigerwald (born December 1, 1845 in Deggendorf , Bavarian Forest , † September 29, 1903 in Tutzing , Starnberg district , Upper Bavaria ) was a Bavarian glass designer .

family

Poschinger, nee Steigerwald , came from a wealthy family of glass manufacturers and was the daughter of the estate and glassworks owner Wilhelm Steigerwald and Henrice Reinhold. Her uncle Franz Steigerwald founded the Theresienthal glassworks in 1836 , but on April 1, 1861 it was sold by the Royal Bank of Nuremberg for 20,000 guilders to Michael von Poschinger, Henriette's future husband.

Two years later, Henriette Steigerwald married the royal Bavarian councilor Johann Michael III on June 9, 1863 in Zwiesel . Knight and Edler von Poschinger (born December 8, 1834 at Gut Ober-Frauenau; † February 18, 1908 in Munich ), landlord and now also a glassworks owner in Theresienthal. He came from the old Bavarian Poschinger family and was the son of Johann Michael II. Knight and Edler von Poschinger (1794–1863), lord of the Oberfrauenau (Regen district), Drachselsried , Wettzell and Thallersdorf, and Maria Schweikl (1810–1863) 1878).

His two grandsons Egon von Poschinger (1894–1977) and Hans von Poschinger (1892–1951) inherited the artistic talent of their grandmother Henriette and became well-known painters .

Life

Poschinger was a master student of the famous painter Franz von Lenbach (1836–1904). For several decades she worked as a designer in her glassworks and designed glass shapes and ornaments for stylish glasses , mainly for cups and Romans .

In the phase of historicism , however, she also copied glasses from the Bavarian and Germanic National Museum in order to design modern glasses using old techniques.
