Anne Cox Chambers
Anne Cox Chambers (born December 1, 1919 in Dayton , Ohio ; † January 31, 2020 in Atlanta , Georgia ) was the heiress of Cox Enterprises , one of the largest media empires in America, and the US ambassador to Belgium . On the 2015 list of the world's richest people published by Forbes Magazine , she was ranked 53rd with a fortune of $ 17 billion.
Life
Anne Cox was the eldest daughter of James M. Cox (1870-1957), industrialist , governor of Ohio, and Democratic presidential candidate in 1920, and his second wife, Margaretta Parler Blair (1890-1960). She grew up in Dayton with her siblings James, John and Barbara . 1938 joined Anne Cox their education at Miss Porter's School in Farmington , in the state of Connecticut , from. She then studied at Finch College in New York City . After the death of her father, Anne Cox Chambers and her sister took over the management of the empire of Cox Enterprises. Under the presidency of Jimmy Carter , Cox Chambers was appointed US ambassador to Belgium (1977-1981). At the same time she was the head of the Bank of the South and from 1981 to 1991 she served as the director of the Coca-Cola Company .
Anne Cox Chambers was committed to the American Society of the French Legion of Honor and was an honorary member of various art development associations. Anne Cox was married twice, first to Louis Gerald Johnson and second to Robert William Chambers. The two marriages produced two daughters and one son.
