Farmington is a city in Hartford County in the US state of Connecticut , United States , with 24,200 inhabitants (as of 2004). The urban area has a size of 74.5 km².
Farmington is a historic town, settlement began as early as 1640. Even today, the main street is lined with many historic buildings, some dating back to the 17th century. Of particular interest are the colonial-style Hill-Stead Museum , built in 1901, and the former Miss Porter's School , a college preparatory school for girls. The city's best-known residents include the architect Theodate Pope Riddle and the gangsta rapper 50 Cent , who bought boxer Mike Tyson's mansion, which had been vacant for years . Farmington is the headquarters of Otis , the world's largest manufacturer of elevator systems.
