Pierre Arditi (born December 1, 1944 in Paris ) is a French actor .

Life

He made his cinema debut in 1971 in Blaise Pascal . After that he played mainly in TV series. From 1980 ( My Uncle from America with Gérard Depardieu ) Arditi often worked with director Alain Resnais . His greatest film successes were Dreyfus Affair (1994) and a supporting role in the four-part series Der Graf von Monte Christo (1998). High points in Arditi's career were winning the César film award as best supporting actor in 1987 in Resnais' Mélo and as best leading actor in Smoking / No Smoking .

In 2002 he was made a Knight of the French Legion of Honor , like his father, the painter Georges Arditi. Arditi married his longtime partner and fellow actor Évelyne Bouix in 2010 . Arditi's sisters (Rachel Arditi, Catherine Arditi, Danièle Arditi) also chose the acting profession.
