The completely disaffected comic artist Victor is currently on the decline, both professionally and in his relationship. Again and again there are arguments between him and Marianne in which they throw violent insults at each other. With the help of Antoine's event agency, however, he was given the opportunity to relive that day 40 years ago in 1974 when he met Marianne, who despite everything is still the love of his life. The film received a production grant of 460,000 euros from the Région Île-de-France . The shooting took place from the end of September to the end of November 2018 in the Paris area . Nicolas Bolduc acted as cameraman .
Bedos composed the film music together with Anne-Sophie Versnaeyen . The soundtrack, which comprises a total of 21 pieces of music, including songs by Billie Holiday , Bobby Goldsboro and other artists played in the film, was released as a download by Milan Records in France in early November 2019.
The film was first shown on May 20, 2019 as part of the Cannes International Film Festival in the main competition out of competition. A first German trailer was presented in August 2019. In September 2019 the film was shown at the Toronto International Film Festival as part of the Special Presentations. At the end of September 2019, the film opened the Hamburg Film Festival and celebrated its German premiere here before it was released in German cinemas on November 28, 2019. In early October 2019 he was presented at the London Film Festival . The cinema release in France took place on November 6, 2019. In September 2020 it will be shown in the open-air edition of the Festival of German Films . On October 2, 2020, it will come to selected US cinemas.
