Luna Bulmahn (born November 26, 1999 in Bückeburg ) is a German athlete who has specialized in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Bulmahn started athletics at the age of 6. After having tried all the disciplines as usual, she concentrated more and more on the sprint distances in her youth. In August 2014 she took on the 300 meter hurdles for the first time at the German U16 championships and finished ninth there in 45.92 seconds. In the three following years, the 200 meters became her favorite discipline, her best placement over this distance at the German Youth Championships was 4th overall in 24.40 s at the 2017 U20 Indoor Championships. Outdoors she was seventh in the same year and in 2016 in the U18 eighth. In 2017 Bulmahn also completed her first 400 meter race in 55.98 s. From the following season onwards, he fully concentrated on this distance and won her first medal at national level in the summer of 2018 when she finished third at the German U20 championships with a best time of 55.30 seconds.

In 2019, Bulmahn increased her performance significantly, so that in February she won silver at the German Indoor Championships in 53.67 seconds at the adult level . She was then nominated for her first international assignment at the IAAF World Relays 2019 in Yokohama in May , where she was the starting runner of the German 4 x 400 meter quartet in the preliminary and B final. In the further course of the season she won the German U23 championships in 53.25 seconds and won bronze at the U23 European championships in the middle of the year in Gävle with the relay as the final runner. In the individual race, she just missed a medal with 52.94 s (52.72 s in the run-up) in fourth place. At the beginning of August, she won gold at the German Championships held in Berlin as part of the finals , with another improvement to 52.37 s. A week later, she came fifth with the German relay team at the European Team Championship in Bydgoszcz .

Bulmahn passed her high school diploma at the Ratsgymnasium Stadthagen in 2018 and studied public relations at the University of Hanover .

Club and coach

Bulmahn's first club was VfL Bückeburg , where Erich Döllner and Ulf Walkling were their coaches. At the beginning of 2015 she moved to Post SV Stadthagen, which at the same time joined the Weserbergland athletics community . Before that, she had already trained for two years in a training group with Marco Leszczynski at Post SV Stadthagen, which formed the starting community of Schaumburg with Bückeburg . In 2016 the next change to VfL Eintracht Hannover and the national coaches Björn Sterzel and Georgi Kamenezki took place after switching to the 400 meters. In September 2018 she joined Edgar Eisenkolb's training group with Ruth Sophia Spelmeyer, among others .
