history

The club was founded in 1912 as the Ballspielverein Bückeburg . This dissolved in the mid-1930s. After the end of the Second World War , TuS Bückeburg was founded, which in 1947 became today's VfL Bückeburg. Two years later, VfL was one of the founding members of Amateur League 3 and immediately became runner-up behind Werder Hanover . After another runner-up in 1952, the team became champions a year later and, after a 2-1 win over Union Salzgitter, made it into the second-class amateur league in Lower Saxony .

VfL stayed in the top division of Lower Saxony for three years and after relegation in 1957, the Bückeburgers were passed through to the district class a year later. In free fall, VfL went down to the 1st district class. After several failed attempts, he was promoted back to the district class in 1972. Financial problems led to the promotion of youth work. In addition, the Bückeburger Jahnstadion received an artificial turf surface in 1980 , which was soon feared by the opponents. Two years later, VfL rose to the district league and in 1984 to the Hanover regional league .

There followed three runner-up championships in a row. In 1989, the Bückeburger won the Lower Saxony Cup and qualified for the DFB Cup , where the team lost 2-0 to Eintracht Braunschweig in the first round . Because of the artificial turf pitch, the game took place in nearby Obernkirchen . Three years later, due to the better goal difference against Black and Yellow Asel, they were promoted to the Landesliga West . In 1994 he qualified for the newly created Lower Saxony League .

In 2011, he was promoted to the Lower Saxony Oberliga as a champion of the Hanover regional league . This time the team had to relegate again, but returned after a year.
