The Celler Lauf (full name Celler Wasa-Lauf ) has been held annually on the second Sunday in March in downtown Celle since 1983 . It has nothing to do with the Swedish cross-country skiing event Wasalauf . The Celler Wasa-Lauf takes its name from the main sponsor, the crispbread manufacturer Wasa (now “ Barilla Wasa Deutschland GmbH”), who operates its main German plant in Celle.

It is now one of the largest fun runs in Germany and is divided into several distances (children's run of 2.5 km, runs of 5, 10, 15 and 20 km). In 2012 there were around 9,300 participants and 25,000 spectators.

In the 1960s there was a small fun run in Celle for a few years. In 1982 the Celler Wasa-Lauf was founded based on a concept from SV Eintracht Celle , one of the founding fathers was Udo Rasche.
