Armin Dahlen
Armin Dahlen , actually Armin Schiestl (born October 14, 1919 in Wolfsberg , Carinthia ; † July 26, 2013 in Hart bei Graz ) was an Austrian actor and director .
Life
Armin Dahlen's career as a film actor didn't begin until after the Second World War , when he initially took on minor roles in several Austrian homeland films. He mainly played "healthy, real nature boys" in various mountain and farmer films. He received his first leading role in the German film Heimatglocken (1952), directed by Hermann Kugelstadt . Soon afterwards he played alongside Bernhard Wicki , Wolf Ackva , Hans Brenner and Paul Hörbiger in the Schnulze Der Haflinger Sepp , which became known under the title Young Heart Full of Love under the direction of Paul May . The director May brought him back for the war film 08/15 (part II). After the gradual decline of Heimatfilms, Dahlen embodied other soldier characters, for example in the big screen hit Dogs, Do You Want to Live Forever , in which he can be seen alongside Horst Frank and Sonja Ziemann .
From the mid-1960s he only had a few appearances in German films. He played in all three parts of the trilogy based on stories by Peter Rosegger ( When I was the forest farmer's boy , From my forest home and When I was with Käthele im Walde ), which was filmed in 1963 under the direction of Gustl Gotzler . Then he switched to directing work for television. There he was very successful with the series Alarm in the Mountains (13 parts from 1965), The Squids - Underwater Detectives Intervene (1966) and the youth series Merlin (1979).
On January 3, 2006, his wife, the actress Angela Salloker , whom he met in 1949 while filming the film Angela ( White Gold ) together , died.
The former actor and director died unnoticed by the public at the age of 93 in a suburb of Graz , where he had lived since 1981 under the name Armin Theodor Josef Schiestl-Dahlen. This resulted in a research request from the citizen service and the central register of the municipality of Hart bei Graz.
