Angela Salloker (born March  5, 1913 in Moschganzen near Pettau , † January 3, 2006 in Graz ) was an Austrian actress .

Life

Angela Salloker made her stage debut as Hannele in Hanneles Himmelfahrt (based on Gerhart Hauptmann ) at the Schauspielhaus Graz at the age of 15 . In the same year she began three years of acting lessons with Lori Weiser and received her first permanent stage engagement. From 1935 to 1938 she took voice training lessons from Margaret Langen in Berlin.

In the following years Angela Salloker played on numerous important German-speaking theaters, a. a. in Breslau, Munich, Salzburg, Berlin ( Deutsches Theater ), Vienna (including Burgtheater , Theater in der Josefstadt ), Konstanz, Zurich, Kassel, Göttingen and also gave guest performances at the Heidelberg , Salzburg and Bad Hersfeld festivals.

Although Angela Salloker put her artistic focus on the theater throughout her life, she was also able to celebrate successes as an actress in film and television. In 1934 she made her film debut at the side of Albert Florath in The Black Whale and played in Hohe Schule alongside Paul Henreid and Hans Moser . Only a year later she received the title role as Jeanne d'Arc in the lavishly produced historical epic Das Mädchen Johanna alongside colleagues such as Gustaf Gründgens , Heinrich George and René Deltgen . However, the film was banned after 1945 because of the clear parallels with National Socialism . In 1936 she played in the drama Mädchenpensionat , in 1937 with Emil Jannings and Elisabeth Flickenschildt in an adaptation of Heinrich von Kleist's broken mug , and in 1939 with Paul Dahlke in Die Honeymoon .

During the Second World War , Angela Salloker had already completely withdrawn from the film business and, despite her earlier successes, only sporadically turned to film productions.

After the war, she also rarely appeared in front of the camera for television. However, in addition to her stage work, she played in television adaptations of well-known stage and novel templates such as under the direction of Peter Beauvais in Ibsen’s Ghosts (with Martin Benrath and Martin Held ), alongside Hannes Messemer in Das Fräulein von Scuderi based on ETA Hoffmann and directed by Otto Gift in The Living Corpse after Leo Tolstoy (with Helmuth Lohner ). She also gave guest appearances in the television series Der Kommissar and Derrick , where she played a professor's wife alongside Will Quadflieg in the episode Ein Kongress in Berlin .

She has also worked as a narrator for numerous radio plays and since the 1940s - albeit less often - for film dubbing. Here she lent her voice u. a. Jean Arthur (Life Artist) and Alexis Smith (The Adventures of Mark Twain) .

She was married to fellow actor Armin Dahlen , with whom she a. a. 1949 in Angela stood together in front of the camera.

Angela Salloker died in 2006 at the age of 92. She was buried in the St. Peter local cemetery in Graz (field 1, row 4, grave no. 12).
