Jon Istad

Jon Istad (born July 29, 1937 in Voss ; † May 17, 2012 ) was a Norwegian biathlete .

With the Norwegian relay he won the silver medal over 4 × 7.5 kilometers in biathlon at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble . At the biathlon world championships in 1966 he won the gold medal over 20 kilometers and became world champion.

His son Sverre Istad , like his niece Gro Marit Istad-Kristiansen, was a successful biathlete.
