Aleksandr Elizarov ( Russian Александр Матвеевич Елизаров * 7. March 1952 in Wjasowka or Nizhny Mywal , Rajon Sosnovoborsk in the Oblast Pensa , then Soviet Union ) is a former Soviet biathlete .

Alexander Jelisarov started cross-country skiing at the age of fifteen while on vacation in Kuznetsk . He won several regional races and then came to an engineering school in Penza , where he was able to train intensively and was given targeted support. There he became a member of a biathlon training group. In 1973 he was accepted into the junior national team. In the same year he managed to beat Alexander Tikhonov at the USSR Cup. At the World Cup in 1975 he was second both individually and with the relay (Jelisarow, Ushakow , Kruglow , Tichonow). In 1976 he moved to Mytishchi to prepare for the Olympic Games . At that time he started for Trud Moscow . At the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck , Jelisarow won a gold medal with the biathlon relay and a bronze medal in the individual. As the starting runner of the relay, he handed over to Ivan Bjakow with a 42-second lead . Nikolai Kruglow and Alexander Tichonow extended their lead, while all four Soviet runners remained clear on the shooting range. With the third-best running time with two missed shots, he secured third place in the individual behind Kruglow and just behind Heikki Ikola . He won silver at the world championship in the same year , in which only the non-Olympic sprint competition was held. At the Biathlon World Championships in 1977 in Vingrom , he won his only world title. The Soviet squadron won in the same line-up as in 1975 before Finland and the GDR . In the sprint he was seventeenth and in the individual he was not used. At the national level, he won two championship titles, in 1973 and 1975 in the sprint. At the end of the 1977 season he ended his career. He then worked as a biathlon trainer. In 1982 he founded a youth sports schools for the biathlon, which was named after him ( Пушкинская комплексная детско-юношеская спортивная школа по биатлону и другим видам спорта имени А. М. Елизарова ) and its first director he was. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, he began trading sports equipment and runs a number of sports weapons stores . Yelizarov was awarded both the titles of Honored Master of Sports (1976) and Honored Coach of Russia , and he was awarded the Badge of Honor of the Soviet Union . In 2009 he was made an honorary citizen of the Pushkino community . Yelizarov is married and has a son and a daughter.
