Anton Igorewitsch Babikow ( Russian Антон Игоревич Бабиков ; English transcription Anton Babikov ; born August 2, 1991 in Ufa , Bashkir ASSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian biathlete .

Career

Anton Babikow made his international debut as part of the junior races of the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2012 in Ufa . There he was eighth in the sprint, fifth in the pursuit and won the mixed relay title with Olga Podchufarowa , Olga Kalina and Alexei Kornew . In 2012 he made his debut in the IBU Cup in Ostrow and immediately won points as 34th. In 2014 , when he finished eighth in a sprint in Ruhpolding, he achieved his first top ten placement in the second highest racing series in international biathlon. In 2014 he took part in his first European biathlon championships in Nové Město na Moravě . In the sprint he was 13th, improved in the pursuit race based on it despite three shooting errors to third place behind Maxim Zwetkow and Lars Helge Birkeland and missed a second medal with the relay at the side of Sergei Korastylew , Timofei Lapschin and Maxim Zwetkow a rank.
