Timofei Alexejewitsch Lapschin ( Russian Тимофей Алексеевич Лапшин ; born February 3, 1988 in Krasnoyarsk ) is a Russian-South Korean biathlete who has competed for South Korea since 2017 .

Career

Timofei Lapschin started in 2008 at the club СД KlОР №43 , a specialized children's and youth sports school of the Olympic Reserve (SDJuSchOR), in Moscow under the coaches N. Lopukhov and Alexei Lapschin, his father, with the biathlon. He played his first international championship in 2009 at the Junior World Championships in Canmore . In individual he reached 46th place, in sprint and pursuit he was 13. He also won the silver medal in the relay race with Evgeni Petrow, Pawel Magasejew and Alexei Volkov . This was followed by participation in the junior competitions of the 2009 European Biathlon Championships in Ufa , where the Russian finished ninth in the sprint and eighth in the pursuit race. With Nasir Rabadanow, Sergei Kugubaev and Volkov he won the relay race. The third major event was the junior competitions at the 2009 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Oberhof . Lapschin finished fourth in the sprint and fifth in the pursuit in the roller ski competitions . In 2010 the Russian started in the IBU Cup for the first time . In Altenberg , he immediately finished fifth in his first race and immediately achieved his first points and a first single-digit placement. In the pursuit race that followed, the as yet inconsistent athlete fell back to 48th place after eleven shooting errors. In Duszniki-Zdrój , the Russian took part in the 2010 Summer Biathlon World Championships . In the sprint he took tenth place and was able to improve in the pursuit race based on it to second place behind Matej Kazár . The following winter he could single race in the IBU Cup of Martell decide for themselves. Timofei Lapschin experienced his first start in the World Cup in Hochfilzen in the 2011/12 World Cup . In the sprint race he finished 23rd and in the pursuit he improved to 18th place and immediately won his first points in his first World Cup races. In the same place he was third in the sprint a week later and was on the winners' podium in the World Cup for the first time. In Kontiolahti he only had to admit defeat to Martin Fourcade in a sprint race and finished second.

He received South Korean citizenship in February 2017. In 2018 he took part in the Winter Olympics for South Korea .
