The 20th European Biathlon Championships (officially: IBU Open European Championships Biathlon 2013 ) were held from February 18 to 26, 2013 in the Bulgarian winter sports resort of Bansko .

The award was made by the International Biathlon Union in June 2010. The city has already hosted the 2007 continental title fights , the 2008 Summer Biathlon European Championships , several IBU Cups and other competitions.

Problems arose several times during the competitions, as thick fog obstructed the view and made a regular competition impossible. As a result, several races had to be postponed. Due to the tight schedule, the men’s squad was dropped entirely, as the men’s pursuit was scheduled for the same day.
