Timur Schadgirowitsch Machambetow ( Russian Тимур Жадгирович Махамбетов , also Тимур Жадыгерович Махамбетов ; born July 8, 1992 in Omsk ) is a Russian biathlete .

Timur Machambetow, like his four years older brother Roman, began biathlon under the guidance of his father Shadgir Machambetov . After initial successes, he switched to the biathlon academy in Krasnoyarsk , which is directed by Valery Medvedzew , where Roman Semenjuk looked after him, together with his father as an exercise bike. He starts for the Krasnoyarsk region and is a member of the Russian army. He made his international debut as part of the junior races of the European Championships 2012 in Osrblie , where he was 14th of the individual. A year later he was 29th of the individual in Bansko and won the silver medal in the mixed relay race with Jelena Badanina , Jelena Ankudinowa and Alexander Tschernyschow as well as bronze in sprint races behind his compatriots Alexander Loginow and Maxim Zwetkow . In the pursuit, he swapped places with fourth-placed driver in the sprint, French Mathieu Legrand . Shortly before that, Machambetow started in Obertilliach at the Junior World Championships in 2013 . In the individual he was 13th, in the sprint sixth and in the pursuit race ninth. With the relay he won the bronze medal on the side of Alexander Loginow, Alexander Tschernyschow and Maxim Zwetkow.

At the end of the 2013/14 season , Machambetov played his first men's race in the IBU Cup in Osrblie. As 36th of the sprint and 37th of the pursuit, he immediately won points. Further missions followed only a year later in Ridnaun , where he was deployed after finishing 26th in the sprint and 23rd in the pursuit in the Russian mixed relay and took third place with Olga Jakuschowa , Jekaterina Jurlowa and Alexei Slepow .
